The Darwin Museum participates in the International forum in Beijing



On June 5, 2026, the director of the State Darwin Museum, Anna Iosifovna Klyukina, took part in the Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development of Natural History Museums, which took place in Beijing at the Natural History Museum of China.

The forum brought together museum leaders, scientists, digital technology specialists and representatives of cultural institutions from different countries to discuss current issues in the development of modern natural history museums. The central theme of the meeting was the use of new technologies, including AI, in the scientific, exhibition, educational and outreach activities of museums.

During the forum, Anna Iosifovna Klyukina made a presentation on the experience of the State Darwin Museum in its work with visitors, the development of modern museum spaces and the implementation of digital solutions. In her speech, the museum director presented the institution’s key projects, spoke about approaches to creating an interactive educational environment, and shared practical experience in using new technologies to popularize natural science knowledge.

The forum participants paid special attention to discussing the prospects for using AI in the museum field. Experts examined the possibilities of using AI to manage collections, create personalized visiting routes, develop new forms of interaction with audiences and increase the accessibility of museum content. Representatives from various countries exchanged views on the advantages and challenges associated with the introduction of smart technologies in the work of museums, and also discussed issues of preserving scientific authenticity and cultural heritage in the context of rapid digital transformation.

One of the most important results of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the State Darwin Museum and the Natural History Museum of China. The document is aimed at developing long-term cooperation between the two institutions and provides for the expansion of professional contacts, the exchange of experience in the field of museum affairs, the implementation of joint scientific and educational projects, as well as the development of international cultural interaction.

In addition to participating in the business program of the forum, the delegation of the Darwin Museum got acquainted with new exhibition projects of their Chinese colleagues. Of great interest was a visit to the recently opened Dinosaur Park exhibition, which presents modern interactive technologies that make learning about the history of life on Earth more exciting and accessible for visitors of different ages.

Participation in the forum became an important stage in the development of international cooperation of the State Darwin Museum. Exchange of experience with leading foreign experts, discussion of the prospects for using artificial intelligence and digital technologies, as well as strengthening partnerships open up new opportunities for the implementation of joint projects and the further development of museum activities.
