International Festival "InterMuseum. BRICS+"

From May 20 to 23, 2026, the International Festival "InterMuseum.BRICS+" was held in Moscow. It was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the State Museum and Exhibition Center "ROSIZO" with the support of the Moscow City Government. This year’s festival theme was "Museum – Territory of the Future," where museums were presented as a link between future generations and the rapid advancement of new technologies. In 2026, the festival adopted a new, expanded "BRICS+" format. Leading museum industry speakers from BRICS+ countries, the CIS, and the Global South participated, and local heritage practices and national projects from India, Africa, and Latin America were presented. The State Darwin Museum participated in the Festival’s business program.

Director of the State Darwin Museum, Anna Iosifovna Klyukina, spoke on the first day of the Festival at the roundtable discussion "The Silence of Attribution and the Thunder of Exhibitions. How to Strengthen the Scientific Foundation of a Small Town Museum" was held at the Tretyakov Gallery, organized by the Union of Museums of Russia. The discussion focused on the prospects for developing a mentoring system and long-term partnerships, where federal and regional museums provide methodological and personnel support to their colleagues from municipal museums.

On May 21, Svetlana Kolosova, Head of the Exhibition Department, presented a presentation on the Darwin Museum’s experience working with preschool audiences and the development of the museum’s Preschool Academy project at the roundtable discussion "Science for the Youngest: How to Work with Children in a Museum" held at the Museum of Moscow. MISIS University served as a partner in the session as part of the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia initiative.

Natalia Mikhailova, Head of the Education Department, spoke on May 22 at the panel discussion "Souvenirs. Interpretation of Museum Collections" that took place at the Tretyakov Gallery, presenting the results of the "Picto-fauna" project, a finalist for the 3rd D.S. Likhachev National Museum Prize in the "Museum Special Project" category. The discussion focused on the development of museum souvenirs, which become not just an addition to an exhibition but an independent statement.

Over 40 international specialists participated in the business program. In 2026, the business program included over 100 events, attracting approximately 500 speakers from across Russia and 28 other countries. Over 5,000 experts participated in the business track.

Museum Director A.I. Klyukina, as part of the educational program of the InterMuseum.BRICS+ International Festival, led a tour and workshop for students from Lomonosov Moscow State University and the Kazan State Institute of Culture. She introduced the participants to the museum’s exhibits and the specifics of museum work.

The Picto-fauna project of the State Darwin Museum and the National Institute of Design has reached the finals of the 3rd D.S. Likhachev National Museum Award in the "Special Museum Project" category. The Picto-fauna project received support from the Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation in the "Creative Museum" competition of the "Museum Without Borders" charity program.


On May 20, A.I. Klyukina, Director of the State Darwin Museum, took part in the awards ceremony for the award winners.
