(1896-1934), a Russian scientist who left a bright mark on the archeology of
Peru. In his fate, the stories of two countries were intertwined - Russia, his
homeland, and Peru, where Yakovlev found his calling and became established as

The director of the museum, Anna Iosifovna Klyukina, in her welcoming speech emphasized that in the Museum of the Theory of Evolution the exhibition takes on special significance. Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the Republic of Peru Jose Javier Augusto Shaw thanked the authors of the exhibition and spoke briefly about the life of E.N. Yakovlev in Lima, his connections with local scientists, work at the National Museum, the significance of his works for the science of South America and for archeology in general. The inspirer of the exhibition, artist Svetlana Kalistratova, revealed to the guests the history of the Yakovlev-Kalistratov family, the memory of which is kept in the museum of their hometown of Torzhok. Being the niece of Yevgeny Yakovlev, she learned about his fate only in 2015 and, impressed by this discovery, created a series of paintings. He also gave a tour of the exhibition.
The
curators of the exhibition from the museum, Olga Strelkova and Yana
Shklyarskaya, thanked their colleagues from the VIEM of the city of Torzhok for
